2 Weeks ago, Lindsay and I ran the Memphis Marathon. Here is our pre-marathon picture, both of us looking fresh and ready to push ourselves to the limits...and then the finish of the marathon. we had lots of great supporters and cheerleaders. Edwin caught a few video clips along the race. It was awesome and i couldn't have done it without Lindsay!

We had a typical afternoon before something really fun and special...meaning Wynn totally refused to take a nap (no doubt out of a solid understanding that something fabulous was awaited him). Charlie slept great, but nevertheless, both boys were in something of a funk when we tried to get them in their cowboy getup for the night's festivities. We were planning to go to the fall festival at our church, so we weren't too far away in case of a major meltdown. We put the boys in their jeans and button ups, but the vest, bandana and hat they were having none of. UNTIL...we got to the festival, where, to their absolute delight, there were suckers galore. It was hilarious. There is a series of pictures of Charlie (all with sucker in mouth) as we slowly got him dressed in his full outfit, at which point, he no longer cared, because he had SUCKERS!! At one point they realized they could trade their small suckers for big suckers...oh my! I don't believe there is a picture without suckers. See for yourself...

adventures in pumpkin patching...

Mandy wanted to have the boys pictures taken at a pumpkin patch, so we went in search for something closeby. We ended up at the Ag museum, where they have a hay ride and you get to pick a pumpkin from the "patch". well, it was an adventure for sure. The hay ride was fun, and they took us over to Old Towne Mississippi where they have a jail cell, a schoolhouse, and a barn with real animals. We were totally into the barn thing, since both boys really love farm animals. Charlie got a little close to a chicken (stuck his finger through the wire) and got a little chicken kiss (aka peck). I haven't laughed that hard in a while. We had to go back through and say goodbye to the chicken so Charlie wouldn't have any future issues. The pumpkin patch was really just a group of small, rotting pumpkins, so the hay ride driver offered to take us back to the official patch in the back. We got some pretty good pumpkins, but mostly a hilarious day at the ag museum. Highlights below...

The fair comes to Jackson!!!

It was so fun to take Wynn and Charlie to the fair for the first year that they could ride anything. We did it in a 2 part trip, the first day with Mimi (Edwin's mom) and Papaw (my dad) and did the petting zoo, the 4H animals, and the food!! The second day we went with Grandma (my mom) and did rides, slides and more rides...and some eating too! The boys loved the animals, getting to feed and pet them, but i have to say, i think they loved the rides even more. They were in shock. It was absolutely adorable. Here are some shots of both days.

Chicago Half Marathon

Back in September, Meredith, Phoebe, Sarah Elizabeth and I went to Chicago for the weekend. Mere, Biz and i ran a half marathon...IN THE POURING RAIN...and Phoebe faithfully stood out in the rain to take pictures of us crossing the finish line (which we all did, thankfully). We had such a good time, even though it rained most of the weekend.

i did it again! I think that most of you who know me will not be surprised at my lack of posting. it is not a gift of mine to be VERY on top of things. I get caught up in my little world of business, chaos, nonsense, or whatever, and totally forget that i have this incredible tool to keep our friends and family updated on our lives in a very simple way.
Well, the latest is that we are getting ready to put our house on the market (super sad!), but we are staying in Jackson, just downsizing a bit. Wynn is growing so much. He is talking up a storm and very independent. I hardly know what to do with him most days...i can't keep up. He and Charlie are getting to be closer and closer, and i am so thrilled that they have each other. They get lots of practice sharing and let's just say that Charlie has mastered the skill a little better than his buddy. They both love to sing and laugh and make animal noises of all kinds. Our latest song has been the ABC's over and over and over again. It is really cute, i'll have to post a video soon.

Somewhere between March and July, i forgot that i had a blog and missed several big (and little) events in our lives. WB has changed so much, basically, he talks almost all the time. Babbling mostly. it's absolutely fabulous. and, for those of you who liked the previous dancing video, i have plenty more where that came from. he's a very creative groover with his new moves for each tune. in april, Lindsay ran her first marathon and i ran my first half! that was a big, big, big (exhausting) event. since then, i'm slightly addicted to running, which is a good thing in my normal non-exercising world. Recently 2 of my good, good friends moved away, real sadness, but we've had some sweet visiting time and are planning more in the near future. and then, 5 of my girlfriends from college and i took a trip to Perdido...it was so lovely. overall, it's been a really fun spring to summer transition. here are some of the highlights...

Wynn and i both have a nasty cold which has prevented us from enjoying the company of others and has made staying at home ALL DAY these 3 days a little trying for this pair of grumps. Yesterday, we were running some errands and had to stop at wal-mart for a few things...where we picked up 100 balls for $9.95! They are fantastic, the perfect size for little hands to hold, nice and soft, and plenty of them (so there's never a dull moment). I had the brilliant idea to make a ball pit out of his pack n play...contained and entertained...always a good combo.

With Valentine's day coming up this week, i just had to post about my little family. It's so precious to see Edwin interact with Wynn and how excited WB gets when his dada comes home from work each day. They really are an absolutely adorable pair and i just can't help but adore them. Maybe some of these pictures will help you see why.

It's already February!

Can you believe it?! I am having a hard time thinking that my baby is older than a year, that the last month just came and went in the blink of an eye, and that we are moving so rapidly into spring (and consequently summer :) yeah!). Well, the little boo has been doing so much these days. I will try to report only the positives, so those boo loving creatures out there may remain boo fans without any doubts, but let's just say that with age comes new challenges that i'm not sure i was built for. Oh well, i guess i'll have to be since i'm his MOTHER.

Here are some recaps from January that i totally failed to post about.

IT SNOWED! ever so slightly, but enough to make winter fun and exciting for a day. Wynn and i were in Port Gibson (luckily, since it snowed more there than Jackson), and it just so happened that Wynn got up around 5 am and i went out to get a sippie cup from the car, AND...IT WAS SNOWING. Oh, and i had forgotten my camera, so i have a few pics of the after math with the fur hat on, and some of our house in Jackson with snow. We snagged Peggy to come sledding with us and she got a few pics, which i may be able to post soon.

Also, Wynn B started doing some big boy things. He only drinks cow's milk now, he just takes one LONG nap every day, sleeps until about 7 every morning, and is learning to feed himself with his own spoon.

AND, probably our favorite thing...we discovered PUMP IT UP! on Old Fannin. it is open to the public on Mondays and Thursdays from 9-11 and the Wynn Monster LOVES it. we have been 4 times now. it is an absolute blast. i run around and play with him and slide with him (let's just say i don't exactly act my age). if you haven't tried it...you must...your kids with be exstatic.

Day 3...

...THE PARTY!!! Well, like most intelligent babes, Wynn appearantly knew something super fun was in the works, because he refused to take a nap on Saturday morning. He loves naps, and generally takes 2 long naps every day. Not THIS day. He was so excited and didn't want to miss any of the fun. He finally rested for about 45 min. before the party. The party was an absolute blast. We had such precious friends and family there, and the kiddos played really well together. Thanks for coming to celebrate the little boo's birthday with us. We love you all.

Day 2...

...was mostly party planning and preparing day, but we made it oh so fun and celebratory by spending much of it with friends. We had to make a run to the Doc for our 12 mo. checkup...all is well on that end (a whopping 23 pounds, which explains my body aching). we came home for a long nap and then met Erin and Jack at Chick-fil-a for a little lunch/playtime. The one on lakeland has a great play area with lots of activities for little ones. we even got balloons. It was a real blast. We stayed for about 2 hours. After running to a couple of stores for party gear, we headed home to clean and cook. Meredith and Biz came over and kept Wynn occupied while i got some things ready, then Grandma got here just in time to make everything come together. Here are some of the fun memories of the day.

Day 1...

...Of the birthday celebration! Wynn and i had a fabulous day. We woke up and went to the park with our friends Katie and Lemly (pictures to follow). Wynn and Lem played so cutely together. They both had a blast on the slides. we thought we'd never get them off. He took a good morning nap...and i went crazy sewing. I realized that while i had a precious outfit for his party saturday, i didn't have anything fun for him to wear ON his birthday. So i got busy with some cute fabric i had gotten from Phoebe. He was very festive on the big day. We had a fun lunch with Jessica and Lily (while hiding from a tornado), and came home for a nap...which he didn't take! It turned out nicely because our Erin and our Jack Jack came by for a visit, so the boys got a little play time and E and i got to visit. Edwin came home to play with the bug while i prepared his birthday dinner (Chicken SURPRISE!!! his favorite, and a chocolate chip cookie cake with cool whip on top!) and Mimi and Grandaddy came over for dinner and to open a couple of gifts. Oh what a day...he loved the cool whip the best. i think he would have eaten the whole container. He got a fabulous dump truck riding toy (on recommendation from his cousin Hank) and he played on it way past his bedtime. All in all it was a fantastic day. i can't wait to celebrate again tomorrow the birth of this precious little man.

A year flies by...

Wynn B will be one on Thursday. I can hardly believe it's been a whole year. Edwin and I are so blessed to have him in our lives. His precious smile and sweet laughter are infectious! He's gotten really good at giving kisses, and sometimes can't seem to stop once he's started. I'm sure our laughing at his sweetness doesn't help the situation. I've been trying to upload some videos of the boo...some of my favorite things he does, like dancing, babbling constantly, playing on his new incline mats, laughing at nothing...in the meantime, here is a slideshow of some of what i have from beginning until now.
He's more precious than we could have imagined or hoped for. Happy Birthday little Boo...we love you more than you'll ever know.

Christmas craziness!

We were in Chattanooga, TN for 6 days with Edwin's family, and drove back to Mississippi to spend a few days with my sisters before they had to head home. On the way here, we got a terrible phone from my oldest sister saying she had the stomach virus. OH NO!!! we decided to come anyway...and the next day, my other sister got it. so far, we are well, but i'll keep you updated on the christmas virus saga. Wynn and his cousin Charlie are loving some quality baby playtime. They have been sharing so nicely. Here are a few pics of the trip home so far.

Turkey Day in PG!!

We had thanksgiving in PG and went to my great aunt's house for lunch. Everything was yummy and the day was relaxing. The boys went hunting after lunch, and we told Wynn he was much to young to go, but he had to sport his camos anyway!

A Season of Firsts...

It's so fun to have a little one around, because everything becomes new again...even things you've done a hundred times. It's exciting to see someone experience something for the first time and their enjoyment of it is contagious. We have lots of firsts these days, but one of my favorites so far was Wynn's first Egg Bowl Party. We were in Port Gibson with my family (big state fans) and we had the McLemores over to watch the game. Wynn got to sport his new MSU sweatshirt and was hyper most of the day with so many people in the house. But the real fun began in the fourth quarter when his dad and his papaw started screaming from the living room. We went to join in and it was hilarious to see Wynn experience victory over Ole Miss in the Strawn house. Notice the Wynn, Peggy, Papaw victory dance.

I've been trying to post this for a couple of days now...didn't want you guys to have to wait to see this precious boy start walking! Edwin and I were both home on friday afternoon and Wynn just stood up and took 6 or 7 steps. We got so excited and kept getting him to do it again. He really took off. Of course, i didn't get the best steps on video, but you'll get the idea. Since then, he's been walking more and more. It's so precious to see him do it. He's been babling up a storm lately and i keep trying to make out what he's saying...it's really hysterical. And...the other day he climbed all the way to the top of the stairs (talk about scary). Don't worry, I was right behind him all the way up. It seems like he just jumped to the next level of mobility, which is so crazy, and he's a really good dancer, too! I'll have to capture that one on video soon and upload it. Enjoy!

So, I didn't realize what a huge fan of Halloween I would be until I dressed up my very own little munchkin in his adorable costume. Yes, he was a LOBSTER! Meredith and I laughed until we hurt (as you'll hear in the video) because Wynn kept tugging at his antenna and pulling himself over. He would crawl over Edwin and looked like he was eating him. Flo and Kenny hosted the reception for Bethany McLemore and Gabe Austen.
